WILD! Happy Feet!!

These lessons were taught on September 24th and 27th. The lesson was based off of the book, " So Many Feet" By Nichole Mara, for the PM class. This book describes the many different kind of feet that animals have, what they use them for, and how they move with those feet. This book is so well done and so enjoyable to read. As I read this book both of the classes were enthralled with the unique animals and facts that were shared about them! The students then got to experiment with and move like the animals we discussed.

During the AM class we used the book "GIraffes Can't Dance" by Giles Andreae. In this book the animals dance with different styles and locomotor movements. Similar to the PM class, the AM class then was able to experiment by moving in that way like a particular animal.

I loved seeing the different ways that the students portrayed the animals! In the AM class, the students then made up their own variations of dance moves and animals and moved in that way. I loved seeing their creativity as they did this, and hearing their ideas and exposure to dances. In both classes as a class we then were able to create our own " Animal Feet Movement Dance". The students chose the animals, or locomotor movements then varied the ways in which they chose to move (levels, isolated body parts, etc.) to make the dance individual. It was so fun to move in this way and to see them apply the knowledge of both animals and dance!
